Paper covered boards with color illustration on front cover, brightly decorated spine (original price of two shillings printed at bottom) and illustrated ad for Pears Soap on back cover. Binding is firm, hinges are cracked. Former owners bookplate and a signature along the gutter of the title page are the only markings. Advertisements on endpapers. There is a color plate titled 'Maude Muller' at the end of the story, followed by several pages of ads for the publisher's other titles.
