Well-bound, clean copy with very little wear to cover. 2 of the original 12 full-color plates have been removed. Illustrated endpapers, front endpaper has former owner's name and address twice, blank endpaper has nice gift inscription dated Christmas 1928. Cover is gray with large bird in black and red with black lettering. Price: 30.00 USD

London 1823 Hard Cover Very Good - None Issued Five volumes containing the whole of his Poetical Works; The Tale of a Tub; Battle of the Books; Gulliver's Travels; Directions to Servants; Polite Conversation; Art of Punning; Miscellaneous Pieces in Prose. Printed for Hector McLean. Books are 4' x 6 1/4', brown boards with blue spines and paper labels on the spines.. The labels are faded and difficult to read. Interior pages of all are clean, without foxing. B&W frontis illustrations b&w plates within. A former owner's bookplate inside the front cover of each is the only marking. Volume 1 contains an ad in the back for a rosewood bookcase. Flaws in individual volumes as follows: Volume 1, back hinge broken, title page has loosened at the bottom from it's stitching (about 2"); Volume 2, back hinge is broken, resulting in the back cover pulling away from the text block, rear blank endpaper is missing, there is a tape repair in the gutter of the title page and frontis; Volume 3, front blank endpaper and frontis are missing, tape repair in gutter of title page, back hinge is broken with back board holding to text block by a thread, 1" of spine loss at the top and spine covering is split on one side; Volume 4 front hinge broken and a tear in the paper on the back endpaper; Despite the wear, a set with character.
