Unmarked set with clear pages. Bound in green cloth with burgundy leather title blocks on the spines. Gold lettering on the title blocks, top edges gilt. Spines are darkened, pages are rough-cut. B&W frontis in each volume. Front hinge cracked on volumes 1, 4 and 7, starting on volumes 6, 8 and 9. All volumes have light wear and a few have occassional spotting on the boards along with light soil. Complete set is 15 volumes consisting of The Book of the Thousand Nights and One Night (volumes 1-9), Tales from the Arabic (volumes 10-12), Persian Letters (volume 13), The Thousand and One Quarter of an Hour (volume 15). This is the Ispahan Edition, number 16 of 247 sets printed. When this set was printed, the content was considered obscene in the English speaking world (Victorian times), thus readers would subscibe for a set and the publisher would print the number of sets that they had orders for at the time. Many sets were given the names of Middle Eastern cities.
